Smarter Car Buyers is owned and operated by Jim Chapman and Deborah Hansen of Jacksonville, Florida and originally came into existence to educate people about car buying and leasing. We are totally independent and do not receive compensation from any auto manufacturer or auto dealer. Deborah is a 20 year veteran educator and Jim has over 30 years of experience and research in the auto industry.
A message from the desk of Jim Chapman
After 23 years of representing the same major automobile manufacturer I felt compelled to resign in 1995 because of the diminishing integrity displayed by most automobile dealers and manufacturers. I saw no alternative to better car buying than for people to become educated about the car dealers’ and car salesmen’s tactics, tricks, and games.
Deborah’s experiences in buying vehicles as a single parent with limited resources and time led her to understand that hiring a professional was the only way to protect her interests. As the classic “monthly payment” car buyer, she realized that she could pay even less by hiring someone to help her.
We first began the journey to educate buyers by presenting car buying and leasing workshops at Florida Community College. After two series of seminars were in place, “Smarter Car Buying” and “Smarter Car Leasing,” I found that many people needed a personal buying and leasing consultant. Thus, Smarter Car Buyers Consulting Services was born.
We offer our clients several options in their car buying or leasing process:
- We will offer up-to-date information about pricing, finance options, warranties, and the entire car buying process so that customers feel they can safely go it alone.
- We will accompany our clients through the entire car buying or leasing process.
- For the person who doesn’t have the time to accomplish the often time consuming car buying process themselves or the person who merely prefers that a professional handle everything, we offer the full service option of finding the car, negotiating the deal and then delivering the car to their door. The customer can get exactly what they want at the lowest possible price without the hassle and the haggling involved in buying or leasing a car.
